Scouting Report - Memphis 11/15

The Fairfield Stags open the season at Memphis, a team that lost in the NCAA Championship game last year. Memphis loses 3 starter, but from all accounts they are still loaded. Here is the scouting report:

The two starters that return for Memphis are Robert Dozier and Antonio Anderson. Dozier is a 6-9 senior PF who is likely to be their leading scorer and go-to guy. He went for 21pts and 10rebs in their exhibition win. Anderson is a 6-6 senior swingman who is more of a defensive player. He is solid offensively, and is a very versatile player.

At PG will be 6-2 Willie Kemp who was a starter his frosh year, but played as a 6th man last year to make room for NBAer Derrick Rose. Kemp will be back at the helm this year.

Two big guys will share time up front. Shawn Taggert is a 6-10, 238lb PF. He had 10pts and 10 rebs in the exhibition game. The other big man is 300lb Pierre Henderson-Niles, who checks in at 6-8. He had 9 pts and 10 rebs in the exhibition.

Memphis is loaded with other players and freshman, but the most highly touted player is 6-6 shooting guard Tyreke Evans. He is just a freshman, but was ranked in the top 5 in the nation last year when he averaged 32ppg playing for the American Christian school in Philadelphia.

Memphis will be physical and quick. They will likely play an aggressive defense. While they have a lot of offensive talent, they did lose 53% of their offense from last year.
