Stags get Verbal from Derek Needham

According to ChicagoHoops.com, the Fairfield Stags have received their second verbal from a Chicago guard this fall.

Derek Needham is a 6-0 point guard from De La Salle Institute in Chicago. He made a visit to Fairfield during the October 25th weekend, and a week later decided on the Stags.

Needham is described as a superb floor leader, has the ability to run a team, and is one of the top defensive players in Illinois. He is strong guard who is very quick and athletic, and he can push the ball very effectively in transition. He can take the ball to the basket and is a good passer and finisher.

Fairfield has been very visible in the state of Illinois in 2008. In addition to landing Needham, the Stags also received a verbal from 6-3 Waukegan star Colin Nickerson, who verballed a month ago. Nickerson is a multi-talented shooting guard.

In addition to being a star basketball player, Needham also has a strong academic background.
